Southeast Asia at its best. 85% of the country is untouched nature, widespread forests, steep mountains and wide river valleys, but also cool high plateaus and savannahs. The primeval forests support a fauna like something out of a fairy tale, with elephants, tigers, leopards, and some of the rarest animal species on the planet. Species never seen by humans are discovered at regular intervals. In recent decades, the few large mammals to be described for the first time were all found in Indochina and experts assume that most of them are at home in Laos: wild oxen such as the saola and kuprey or the truong son munjak. No outsider has ever seen a living specimen of the latter; its existence is only known indirectly, through skeletons, horns and bag that are occasionally found in remote villages. And there is the Mekong, one of the last untamed rivers on Earth. Fed by hundreds of tributaries, it is one of the richest freshwater systems on the planet, comparable only with the Congo or Amazon. This is where the Mekong catfish lives. At 3 meters long and weighing in at 300 kilograms, this monster must be the largest freshwater fish on earth.

Yamunotri
In this segment, “Yamunotri”, we visit close to the source of the holy Yamuna river. With our eyes we see her sacred waters and with our ears we hear how she descended from the spiritual world. A special feature is beautiful footage the Himalayan mountains.
Gangotri
On the second leg of our Char Dham parikrama we visited the holy site of Gangotri. Gangotri is situated not far from where Mother Ganges flows out of the Himalayan mountains. In the town of Gangotri is a beautiful temple where Mother Ganges is worshipped and people can be seen bathing in her sacred waters in the many ghats along the river. In this video we see scenes of Mother Ganges in both Haridwar and Gangotri as we hear of her descent from the spiritual world into the material creation.
Kedarnath — The Abode Of Lord Siva
Kedarnath was the third stop our on pilgrimage to the Himalayas. Despite a devastating flood in 2013 which destroyed much of the infrastructure, the temple remains intact as it has for 5,000 years. It was built on the order of the five Pandava brothers for the express worship of Lord Siva. The Siva lingam inside is in the shape of a hump. Adi Sankaracarya renovated the temple and lived in Kedarnath for sometime. He actually passed away there at the age of 32 years. His samadhi was near the temple but was washed away in the flood in 2013. Vaisnavas worship Lord Siva as the greatest Vaisnava, a per the statement in Srimad Bhagavatam.
Badrinath — A Destination Supreme
Badrinath is famous as one of the larger Char Dhamas of India. Those dhamas are Ramesvaram, Jagannath Puri, Dwarka and Badrinath. Situated high in the Himalayas on the banks of the Alakananda river Badrinath has been visited by great saintly persons since time immemorial. The deity in the temple is self-manifested from a salagram sila and is two feet high. During the winter when it becomes unbearably cold, the temple is closed for 6 months. Before closing the doors the pujaris light a ghee lamp which is found to be still burning when they open the doors 6 months later. It is understood that Narada Muni and various demigods perform the worship during those cold winter months. Nearby is the cave where Srila Vyasadeva wrote down the Vedic scriptures. The border of China is only a few meters away.

Святитель Николай не может видеть человека в нужде и не помочь ему. По своему великому милосердию он всегда помогает всем, кто просит его об этом. Протоиерей Михаил Труханов вспоминал, как в голодные годы, когда его семья оказалась без средств, он, услышав слова отца: «кто сорок акафистов прочтет святителю Николаю, тот все, о чем попросит, по его ходатайству получит от Господа Бога», начал ежедневно читать акафист святителю — и неожиданно, чудесным образом, получил помощь. Узнав об этом «мама перекрестилась и заплакала. Отец, перекрестившись, спросил меня: «Сколько ты акафистов прочитал святителю Николаю?». Я ответил: «Тридцать восемь; сегодня читать должен тридцать девятый». Отец мне и говорит: «Вот, видишь сам теперь, как помогает святитель Николай. Всегда ему молись, сынок!».
Акафист Святителю Николаю читают каждый день перед Его иконой, на протяжении сорока дней, не пропуская ни дня, после каждого акафиста принято своими словами излагать просьбу. Такое молитвенноё правило в народе получило название „домашний сорокоуст“
