The Question I Almost Didnt Ask And How It Changed My Life | Rita Wilson | TEDxNashvilleWomen

So many people never ask themselves what they want. Maybe its because they think they have everything already, or because theyre afraid its too late. But if we dont ask ourselves what we want, theres no way well ever know if our dreams are possible, or what it would take to achieve them. Until recently, that was my story. I was living an amazing, beautiful life, and I didnt feel I deserved to even contemplate anything more. This talk is about why I decided to finally ask myself that question, and what happened when I did. Although Rita Wilson is well-known as an actress and film producer, her most recent projects have all been connected to her passion for music. After achieving her dream in 2012 with the critically acclaimed album AM/FM — an intimate, elegant, and beautifully sung collection of classics from the ‘60s and ‘70s — Wilson has been focusing on a new component of her musical career as a songwriter. Recently, she has collaborated with a number of talented and successful songwriters, composing original material featured on her second album, self-titled Rita Wilson. Her new album Halfway to Home (March 2019) has a fuller sound: Southern California rock meets Nashville country, co-produced by Rita Wilson and Nathan Chapman with additional production from Ron Aniello and John Shanks. Many of the songs were co-written with an A-List group of songwriters, including Grammy winner Liz Rose, Kristian Bush of Sugarland, Mozella, Mitch Allan, and Kara DioGuardi. Overcoming hopelessness | Nick Vujicic | TEDxNoviSad

Never miss a talk! SUBSCRIBE to the TEDx channel: bit.ly/1FAg8hB

Nick talks about the importance of parenting in early childhood and its significance in overcoming hopelessness. Willpower is a driving force for making our big dreams come true, but if we dont get a miracle in life, we can always be a miracle to someone else.

Nick Vujicic was born in Australia to a Serbian immigrant family, with a rare disorder characterized by the absence of all four limbs. Most of his childhood he struggled with depression, and after a suicide attempt he decided to concentrate on what he did have instead on what he didnt. He realized that his life story inspires many people.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

A Day In A Himalayan Forest | Documentary Film Nepal

Himalayan forests are home to abundant biodiversity. Forests play an important role in the livelihoods of rural people worldwide, particularly in the poorest socio-economic groups (i.e., indigenous peoples, peasant communities, tribal and rural societies) living in and around forested areas. In this film we follow a group of Kham Magars from Mid-Western Nepal that set on a journey to the high Himalayas to gather wood for building a village house. The wood was collected at the altitude of 3500m (11500ft) above the village of Maikot in Rukum District.

"Death Zone - Nanga Parbat". Documentary film about extreme ski descend from killer mountain.

The film is about a unique expedition of two Russians and one Italian who climbed to the top of the treacherous Nanga Parbat (8125 meters) with no oxygen to descend from its top on skis.
Documentary film about extreme ski descend from killer mountain.

Nanga Parbat is one of the top three most dangerous for climbing eight-thousanders. The mortality rate of this peak is almost 23%. From among climbers who dared to challenge it, each fifth climber lost his life. The legendary Reinhold Messner lost his younger brother here — he is going to talk about his attitude to this mountain in the film.

The whole life of the members of the Russian-Italian expedition (Vitaly Lazo www.facebook.com/vitaly.lazo, Anton Pugovkin www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100014032001161 and Cala Cimenti www.facebook.com/cala.cimenti ) can be divided into 2 periods: before and after Nanga Parbat. The climb to the top was a real challenge. The point was not only about the exhausting ascent without oxygen with heavy backpacks and skis on their shoulders, not in avalanches and icefalls. The main problem was communication within the team. Athletes worked for the first time as a team. Sleeping in a cramped tent, annoying habits, language barrier did not facilitate the beginning of their friendship.

The situation was corrected by Nanga Parbat itself: after all, only with the coordinated work of the team, full trust to the professional skills and moral principles of each other, it became possible to conquer the killer mountain.
