TALK: Predator Tenderness. Meetings with whales.
We will tell about our experience of direct communication with whales, first of all, with sperm whales, which are the largest predators on the planet. At the same time its almost the most mysterious creatures with amazing abilities, about which it is still extremely little known. They possess the largest and the most highly organized brain (20 kg) and the most gigantic heart (cubic meter in volume). Several years of expeditions to the family of sperm whales have completely changed the scale of our perception of the universe and intelligent life. We will show unique photo and video materials, which have not been published yet.

Jørn Viumdal wants to reach out and touch people, and he wants to challenge his audience understanding of nature. He points to the great challenges that humans face as individuals and societies after having moved so far away from our original habitat and way of life. He also wishes to share his simple model for bringing «life» back in their everyday lives, which provides a better quality of life (research-based), and in the longer term, a biologically sustainable society. Southeast Asia at its best. 85% of the country is untouched nature, widespread forests, steep mountains and wide river valleys, but also cool high plateaus and savannahs. The primeval forests support a fauna like something out of a fairy tale, with elephants, tigers, leopards, and some of the rarest animal species on the planet. Species never seen by humans are discovered at regular intervals. In recent decades, the few large mammals to be described for the first time were all found in Indochina and experts assume that most of them are at home in Laos: wild oxen such as the saola and kuprey or the truong son munjak. No outsider has ever seen a living specimen of the latter; its existence is only known indirectly, through skeletons, horns and bag that are occasionally found in remote villages. And there is the Mekong, one of the last untamed rivers on Earth. Fed by hundreds of tributaries, it is one of the richest freshwater systems on the planet, comparable only with the Congo or Amazon. This is where the Mekong catfish lives. At 3 meters long and weighing in at 300 kilograms, this monster must be the largest freshwater fish on earth.
The film is about a unique expedition of two Russians and one Italian who climbed to the top of the treacherous Nanga Parbat (8125 meters) with no oxygen to descend from its top on skis.
Documentary film about extreme ski descend from killer mountain.
Nanga Parbat is one of the top three most dangerous for climbing eight-thousanders. The mortality rate of this peak is almost 23%. From among climbers who dared to challenge it, each fifth climber lost his life. The legendary Reinhold Messner lost his younger brother here — he is going to talk about his attitude to this mountain in the film.
The whole life of the members of the Russian-Italian expedition (Vitaly Lazo www.facebook.com/vitaly.lazo, Anton Pugovkin www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100014032001161 and Cala Cimenti www.facebook.com/cala.cimenti ) can be divided into 2 periods: before and after Nanga Parbat. The climb to the top was a real challenge. The point was not only about the exhausting ascent without oxygen with heavy backpacks and skis on their shoulders, not in avalanches and icefalls. The main problem was communication within the team. Athletes worked for the first time as a team. Sleeping in a cramped tent, annoying habits, language barrier did not facilitate the beginning of their friendship.
The situation was corrected by Nanga Parbat itself: after all, only with the coordinated work of the team, full trust to the professional skills and moral principles of each other, it became possible to conquer the killer mountain.
