Jessica Gimeno lives with bipolar disorder and wants to expand the discourse around mental health. Its not enough to just receive a diagnosis, she says, people have to learn to live with depression and other mental health issues. In her talk, she shares the techniques shes learned to help her get stuff done while depressed.
Jessica is a warrior who fights five illnesses daily: bipolar II, polycystic ovarian syndrome, asthma, psoriasis, and the neuromuscular autoimmune disease Myasthenia Gravis (MG). Jessica Gimeno was valedictorian of her class, winning more than 20 speech competitions. Motivated by a friend’s suicide, she spoke to hundreds of students about mental health stigma and helped thirty students get psychiatric help. In her free time, Jessica is a diehard New Kids on the Block fan who enjoys pilates, painting, and playing with her nieces and nephews.

Only in his mid-twenties Tom Thum has achieved and experienced more than most artists could hope to achieve in a lifetime. From winning the team battles (alongside Joel Turner) in the World Beatbox Championships in 2005, to fulfilling every artists dream and performing on Broadway in New York with the Tom Tom Crew, Tom has seen his fair share of accolades and well and truly paid his dues. Raised by the small but accommodating Brisbane hip hop scene, Tom started out as a graffiti writer and a Bboy but slowly rose to recognition through his ability to produce unhuman sounds and his natural knack for performing and weaselling his way on stage…
Although the stage seems the ideal habitat for Tom he is also no stranger to community and has been helping the scene improve through conducting a plethora of workshops in many places that usually wouldnt have access to such knowledge and skill. Tom has travelled from the very top of Australia teaching in the Indigenous communities of Mornington and Thursday Islands all the way to the very bottom with a series of workshops in Tasmania and Adelaide.
He has also spent considerable time teaching on Palm Island and in Charleville and many other places that would otherwise be Starved for education about proper hip hop and the positive message that music preaches.
As Toms experience within the music industry expands, he plans to push the limits of the human voice as far as inhumanly possible. Enrolling the help of numerous loop stations, Tom has been conducting DJ sets using only his voice and nothing else, propelling crowds across the country into a frenzy of jaw-dropping disbelief, as he re-creates and remixes classic joints and jams from all eras and genres. At present Tom is working on an album ranging across many different generes and features and hopes to have it finished by early 2012. You might see him on a stage at a festival looping up a storm or supporting anyone from the Hilltop Hoods to Blue King Brown, or you might catch him annoying the hell out of commuters on public transport. “K2 is a savage mountain that tries to kill you.” That is how climber George Bell described the infamous peak after the first American expedition in 1953–forever giving the mountain its nickname–The Savage Mountain. Sixty-six years later, Eddie Bauer mountain guides Adrian Ballinger and Carla Perez aim to summit the 8611-meter peak and join a community of explorers fewer in number than those who have been to outer space. Even more incredible, they both will attempt the feat without the use of supplemental oxygen. Every step of the way the team faces hazardous conditions, terrifying setbacks, and crushing misfortunes. But as Ballinger puts it, “Ill go until the mountain tells me I can’t go anymore.”
Monsoon India s god of life is a fascinating chronicle of how the wild animals of India cope with the hardship of summer and how the arrival of the monsoon transforms their lives and the land they live in. The monsoon is a great benefactor that replenishes water and rejuvenates the land. But sometimes it can also overwhelm with its abundance, unleashing floods that cause death and destruction. In India s far north east, the rare great Indian rhinoceros lives on a flood plain that swings between the extremes of too little water… and too much. Lying to the south of the great Brahmaputra river, the rhino s home is literally reshaped by the force of every monsoon. As the summer advances, and the waterholes shrink, the normally solitary rhinos are forced together into tiny wallows to escape the heat. The days drag on with little respite and tempers flare as the great beasts jostle for space. When the summer monsoon finally arrives after weeks of anticipation, it makes its first landfall not in the north east, but at the tip of southern India. In the fire-ravaged forests of south India elephants squeal and trumpet when the first thunder showers pelt down. As the waves of dark cloud sweep further inland, they release most of their load over the rainforest-covered slopes of the Western Ghats mountains, drenching the forest floor and awakening all manner of life. Travancore tortoises emerge from hiding and the males battle it out for mating rights. Brightly coloured giant centipedes prowl the forest floor in search of food, and up in the canopy lion-tailed macaques enjoy the special fruits of the monsoon. On the misty, windswept mountain tops, the Nilgiri tahr, a species of rare wild goat, prepare for their annual rut. When the females come into heat they are chased relentlessly by the males, until the last female in the herd has mated. The monsoon does not arrive everywhere in India at once. While the monsoon rains lash south-west India, north India continues to reel under a heat wave. Temperatures in Rajasthan soar above 120 F. The heat drives the animals to rapidly shrinking water holes. Rhesus macaques dive headlong into the water and tigers soak in forest pools. But not everyone can afford to play or relax. Despite the crippling heat a tigress with two large cubs is constantly on the hunt for food. The dry, open forest makes concealment difficult and stalking almost impossible, but along the shores of an enchanting lake, where prey animals gather to feed and drink, there is plenty of food to be had. The tigress must use all her cunning if her cubs are to survive. Distant thunder and a smell of rain drives courting peacocks into a frenzy, and under cover of darkness, the monsoon arrives in Rajasthan. Deep underground, a large female python sits tightly coiled around her clutch of eggs. She laid them sixty days ago to hatch with the monsoon. Now, with the arrival of the rains, her young will have no trouble fending for themselves.

50 years after the first Indian climbed Mount Everest, 30 soldiers of the Indian Army decide to climb the highest peak in the world. However, their plans go awry after a series of devastating Earthquakes hit Nepal on the 25th April, 2015. 22 climbers are trapped in the avalanche in the deadly Khumbu Glacier and the remaining members, caught at the Everest Base Camp. With a steady stream of people passing through our site the lines for prasadam got longer and longer, large crowds spilled out of the Mantra Yoga Tent and all other activities were fully packed.
