Let’s Talk Porn | Maria Ahlin | TEDxGöteborg

We have to talk about porn! We have to talk about what message porn is sending and what it teaches our children! More and more extreme content found in mainstream porn, making people less sensitive to sexual aggression. Despite these alarming facts, porn is still one of our biggest taboos. Today, most children are first exposed to pornography at a worryingly young age, in fact, porn is the number one sex educator among young teenagers. Porn is a drug, but why isn’t it treated as an addiction?
In addition to being a public speaker, author and educator Maria is also head of youth organization Changing attitudes. As an expert on issues concerning pornography and sex-buying she has given more than 400 public talks. In her research, she has met with more than 500 people in prostitution, as well as thousands of sex-offenders. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Hare Krishna Festival Traveling in Ukraine with Indradyumna Swami 2018

In a country torn apart by war and suffering a plunging economy, Ukranian devotees are braving sub zero winter temperatures to distribute Srila Prabhupada’s books this December. And they’re being rewarded by a receptive public.

“They’re tired of hearing scary news about the war. The whole society is starving for something positive. So when they see harinama or are inpired by book distributors, they feel very indebted. We just got a long letter of appreciation from one member of the public who was so moved to see our winter Harinama on the street.”

With the war rendering people “politically and economically depressed and hopeless,” according to Acyuta Priya, they have become more receptive to spiritual values.

NEPALI STREET FOOD feast in KATHMANDU, Nepal | Best MOMOS in Kathmandu traditional Newari food

Nepal is home to over 100 different ethnicities so its safe to say that the food culture of this country is immense and diverse. Were in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal to explore the food culture of this vibrant city. We start with a traditional Nepali breakfast at the bazaar of sel roti, gwaramari- a traditional Newari food and chiya (tea). We then head to a locals favourite for one of Nepals most beloved foods- momos (dumplings). We visit Patan, one of the three cities that make up the Kathmandu Valley to delve into Newari food- the Newar are the indigenous inhabitants of the Kathmandu Valley- and eat woh (often called bara), a lentil pancake at a hole in the wall Newar restaurant. We finish at a 4th generation family bakery that specialises in traditional Newar sweets and eat lakhamari, a sweet bread. Sri Vrindavan Dham - Visit to Radha Kunda with Indradyumna Swami

The Most Sacred Place

A few days ago our parikrtama party visited Radha Kunda, the most sacred place in the universe. We approached Srimati Radharanis kunda with all the humility we could muster and bathed in the sacred waters. We also listened to a discourse on Radha Kundas glories and relished kirtan and prasadam afterwards.

The Forest Of Talavan

Talavan is one of the12 major forests of Vrindavan. Nestled in the paddy fields of Talavan is a beautiful temple dedicated to Lord Balarama, who killed the ass-demon Denakasura there. We enjoyed a wonderful day at Talavan having long kirtans and recounting the numerous pastimes that took place in that transcendental abode.

A Visit to Mathura

By the mercy of the Lord our second Kartika parikrama took us to the city of Mathura, where Lord Krsna appeared 5,000 years ago. In a beautiful and spacious temple we discussed the glories of Mathura as revealed in the Brhat Bhagvatamrita, by Srila Sanatana Goswami. After kirtan we wandered the ancient quarters of the city discovering many old temples. Devotees were particularly impressed with two large Deities of Lord Varaha, who have been worshipped since the dawn of creation.

Hari Om (May All Be Blessed) — Jahnavi Harrison - LIVE at the Shaw Theatre, London

A beautiful prayer for the blessing of all of humanity taken from the Srimad Bhagavatam.

svasty astu visvasya khalah prasidatam

dhyayantu bhutani sivam mitho dhiya

manas ca bhadram bhajatad adhokshaje

avesyatam no matir apy ahaituki

«May the entire universe be blessed with peace and good hope. May everyone driven by envy and enmity become pacified and reconciled. May all living beings develop abiding concern for the welfare of others. May our own hearts and minds be filled with purity and serenity. May all these blessings flow naturally from this supreme benediction: May our attention become spontaneously absorbed in the rapture of pure love unto the transcendent Lord.»
