Beatbox brilliance | Tom Thum | TEDxSydney

Tom Thum: Armed with just a microphone, Thum pushes the limits of the human voice to create incredible soundtracks of impossible beats and phenomenal sounds, with scratched vinyl, the Michael Jackson back-catalogue, the didgeridoo and an entire fifties jazz band amongst his vocal repertoire.

You can follow Tom on FaceBook (TomThummer) and Twitter (@tomthummer)

Quoting from ABCs Triple J Unearthed website:

«TOM THUM, THE VERSATILE VOICEBOX Tom Thum appears to have swallowed an entire orchestra and several backing singers The Guardian (UK)

There are not enough superlatives to describe the wonder of this beatboxing virtuoso — I am still trying to figure out how he got those sounds out of his mouth The Daily Telegraph (UK)
The mic master seems to have an orchestra living in his throat: trumpet blasts, guitar strums and samples from classic songs including Michael Jacksons „Billie Jean“ effortlessly spout from his mouth Time Out, NY

These are apt quotes to describe the performance of one of Australias most prominent and respected beatboxers and serial pests. Only in his mid-twenties Tom Thum has achieved and experienced more than most artists could hope to achieve in a lifetime. From winning the team battles (alongside Joel Turner) in the World Beatbox Championships in 2005, to fulfilling every artists dream and performing on Broadway in New York with the Tom Tom Crew, Tom has seen his fair share of accolades and well and truly paid his dues. Raised by the small but accommodating Brisbane hip hop scene, Tom started out as a graffiti writer and a Bboy but slowly rose to recognition through his ability to produce unhuman sounds and his natural knack for performing and weaselling his way on stage…

Although the stage seems the ideal habitat for Tom he is also no stranger to community and has been helping the scene improve through conducting a plethora of workshops in many places that usually wouldnt have access to such knowledge and skill. Tom has travelled from the very top of Australia teaching in the Indigenous communities of Mornington and Thursday Islands all the way to the very bottom with a series of workshops in Tasmania and Adelaide.

He has also spent considerable time teaching on Palm Island and in Charleville and many other places that would otherwise be Starved for education about proper hip hop and the positive message that music preaches.

As Toms experience within the music industry expands, he plans to push the limits of the human voice as far as inhumanly possible. Enrolling the help of numerous loop stations, Tom has been conducting DJ sets using only his voice and nothing else, propelling crowds across the country into a frenzy of jaw-dropping disbelief, as he re-creates and remixes classic joints and jams from all eras and genres. At present Tom is working on an album ranging across many different generes and features and hopes to have it finished by early 2012. You might see him on a stage at a festival looping up a storm or supporting anyone from the Hilltop Hoods to Blue King Brown, or you might catch him annoying the hell out of commuters on public transport. Either way, you will notice him soon enough. Keep an ear out for Tom Thum.»

Mt.Kailash Inner Kora: the Closest Way to Feel Lord of Shiva (I Tasted Mt.Kailash Again)

#mountkailash #kailash #lordofshiva #nandikora #tibet
In the low of religion, when you finish 13 out kora around Mount Kailash then you are allowed to do the Mount Kailash Inner Kora, also known as Nandi Kora in India. It is said that only by completing 13 out koras can you cleanse yourself of all your sins. So it means that only people without sin are permitted to do the inner kora.

Of course, this is only a constraint for religious believers. On this particular trip, I met a young lady. As a person of no faith, why did she choose this strenuous trekking route, why did she come to Kailash, and why did she come here?

“I just heard about Mount Kailash a long time ago. During this difficult year, I think just come to see it. Without any religion or anyone force me. I just want to see and feel it by myself. And I never imagine that I could get so far. I’m so lucky. I can’t describe the whole trip. Every day is amazing. Every single person I met on the way, every single second I spent here, just perfect, makes the whole trip. ”

So it seems that the power of the sacred Mount Kailash is not only for the pilgrims, but even for ordinary people. Mount Kailash inspires people in its own way and brings blessing to them.

As someone who has over 10 years of experience as a Tibetan guide and has been here 59 times, I will share some trekking tips with you here.

Started from Serlung Monastery, which is 5 kilometers away from Darchen Town, the inner kora of Mount Kailash is 34 kilometers long. The lowest port of Kailash Inner Kora is 5300 meters above sea level, while the highest point is 5900 meters above sea level.

It is important to know how to stay healthy at such a high altitude.

Of course, physical health is the primary condition. Even I, a Tibetan, would feel some strain trekking here. So before you decide to take Kailash inner kora, make sure you do a good physical exercise to make sure your body can withstand a long trek in the plateau.

Also is to consult your doctor and tell him/her that you are going to travel to Tibet. In my experience, Acetazolamide (Diamox) is the most effective medication to prevent altitude sickness. However, you have to follow your doctors advice and carry some medications that are effective for you to prevent altitude sickness.

A pair of comfortable hiking shoes is also a must. The inner kora path is almost always rocky and very difficult to walk, and you will need to climb to reach the 13 Golden Chortens and Saptarishi Cave on the last section of the inner kora of Mount Kailash. This is the most dangerous section of the inner kora to reach the highest and also the end part of the kora. A good pair of hiking shoes will make you safer while climbing the rocks.

You can follow my video to see how rocky the road is and have a close look at the holy Mount Kailash.

Most Dangerous Ways To School | NEPAL | Free Documentary

Those who attend school in the mountain village of Kumpur, walk across the mountains of the highest situated country on earth. Nearly half of Nepals lies more than 4 000 Meters above sea level. Today its normal that the kids go to school in the valley, but just 50 years ago the village was completely self sufficient. Only if there was a lack of salt would someone twice a year hard off to refill the stock. Today the children go to the city almost on a daily basis and are immediately forced to cross the dangerous river. A village in distress is left behind. The village community Kumpur is spread across 18 farms on the Dhap Mountain. Their families live in a very remote area.

These families have lived on their land now for thousands of years herding their life-sustaining cattle without electricity, running water or contact to the outside world. Although they constantly ask themselves if the promise of an education justifies the danger of the path involved, they send their children day after day to school.

Everest Base Camp October 2015: Three Passes Route

The most common trek from Lukla to Everest Base Camp follows the busy route up the valleys of the Dudh Koshi and Imja Khola rivers. The «three passes» route we took diverts up the Bhote Koshi valley, then heads across the grain of the ridges over three passes to take in the views. These views include four 8000m peaks: Everest, Lhotse, Makalu and Cho Oyu. Between the first two passes are the five Gokyo lakes, and between the second two is Everest Base Camp. At the end was Kathmandu, including Durbar Square. It was booked through KE Adventure Travel.

Running the Kalalau Trail in One Day - Trail Running Documentary

The Kalalau Trail leads 11 miles along the rugged Nā Pali Coast on the north shore of the island of Kauai, Hawaii. The Trail traverses 5 lush valleys, above towering cliffs, before ending at Kalalau Beach where it is blocked by sheer, fluted pali. Most will take between 2-3 days to finish the trail. Our plan was to travel fast and light, running the entire 22 mile return trip in roughly 8 hours. Read my full trip report including map on my website at: jeffpelletier.com/running-the-kalalau-trail

Why There Is Whispers From Mount Kailash At Night - Nutshell School

Why the Sound Of Whispers Come From Mount Kailash At Night

In Hinduism Lord Shiva is believed to be seated on Mount Kailash’s house. The mountain is full of supernatural powers. That’s why until now nobody has climbed this mountain. Apart from that, this mountain is synonymous with many other mysteries, to which no one has an answer.

Anyone who tried to climb Mount Kailash had died, and the Chinese government banned mountaineering because of these death-related accidents.

The Russian doctor had planned to scale its peak to reveal the mystery of Mount Kailash. There were also several geologists interested in that. The team spent months near Mount Kailash. He also revealed other things that have been a mystery to date and nobody knew about them. Mount Kailash is, according to that squad, a man-made pyramid. He also said there are a lot of supernatural events too.

In his novel, Dr Muldashif has written that mysterious sounds come from Mount Kailash’s silent manger at night. Some people still seem to live there today.

Besides that, the Tibetan Gurus often think there are many supernatural forces. It’s also said there is a mysterious state around Mount Kailash called Shambala. Where Siddha and ascetic people still live today.

The pyramid-shaped Mount Meru is, contrary to common theories, the product of the possessed technological abilities of some supernatural superhuman beings.

According to the Buddhist and Hindu scriptures, ancient monasteries and caves exist around Mount Meru in which the holy sages live in their material and subtle bodies. Just a few lucky ones will see those caves.

Thousands of pilgrims reach Tibet each year for pilgrimage to the Holy Mount Kailash. Some make it to the region and quite a few manage to finish by circumambulating the healed edge. As for scaling the summit, some adventurous mountaineers have attempted, but with no success, to do so.

Trekking all the way up to the summit of Mount Kailash is considered a prohibited act by Hindus for fear of transgressing the holiness of the mountain and upsetting the spiritual forces that reside there. A monk called Milarepa once traveled far enough to reach the peak of Mount Meru according to a Tibetan legend. When he came back he warned everyone not to bother the God sleeping high up in the top.

There are two magnificent lakes at the foot of Mount Kailash, namely Mansarovar and Rakshas Tal.

Mount Kailash is thought to be the Axis Mundi or celestial pole, earth center, earth pillar, world core, world flower. It is the moment heaven meets earth. Google Maps vouch for the fact’s validity.

Don’t be surprised if, after returning from your Mount Meru tour, you find your nails or hair grown by many millimetres. Tourists and pilgrims have discovered that the air from this ancient peak speeds up the ageing cycle!

Once a party of Siberian climbers arrived ahead of a certain stage and aged by a few decades at once. Shockingly, one year later all of the trespassers died of old age!
