How long have you been away from your hometown?

For me, it’s almost 25 years since I left my childhood village.

Today’s video is back to my childhood village, see how it has changed over the past 25 years and also experience the real life in the Tibetan countryside.

Actually, my parents’ house had collapsed about ten years ago because none of us lived here and reparied the house. So I could only went back to my uncle’s house.

My uncle’s house remains almost the same as before. I even took a nap in my childhood bed.

Like all the other Tibetan stone houses, my uncle’s home consists of bedrooms, a typical Tibetan style dining room, a separate praying chapel, a storeroom, and a very Tibetan toilet (an open-air toilet).

Among these rooms, the praying chapel is the most special one in a Tibetan house. Every Tibetan home has a praying chapel, where the family can do their daily prayers in their free time.

Though there is a modern refrigerator, my uncle’s family still kept the original storeroom to keep air-dried yak meat and other items.

I was amazed to see that they still had their old habits, and it was gratifying to see some new changes, like the new TV and tap-water pipes, because my uncle and my nephews could enjoy better living conditions than I had back then.

Collecting yak dung, doing kora around the nearby ancient stupa, visiting the Jhoden Monastery in the village…these were all parts of my daily life since I lived with my uncle in this small Tibetan village.

I would like to share the memory of my hometown with all of you through this video. Hoping we could meet together in Tibet and let me take you to my lovely hometown.

Madanmohan means “one who can even enchant Cupid.” The Deity of Madanmohan (formerly Madan-Gopal) was made for Krisnas great grandson Vajranabha and for many years it was lost. Advaita Acarya discovered the original Deity of Madanmohan (Krishna) in Mahavan-Gokul and served Him here at the base of an old «vat» tree. Before His departure for Navadvip He entrusted the Deity to brahmana Chaubhe in Mathura. Years later Caitanya Mahaprabhu sent Sanatana Goswami to Vrindavan to discover lost places of Krishnas pastimes and write books about devotional service. Advaita Acarya performed his bhajana here at Advaita-vat at the base of the hill.

Sanatan used to beg in nearby Mathura and one day came to doors of the brahman Chaubha. He saw brahmanas children playing with the Deity as if Madanmohan was one of them. Horrified Sanatan chastised Chaubha and taught him proper ways of Deity worship. Both Sanatan and brahman had a dream that night. Madanmohan appeared to Sanatan and told him, that he liked to be treated as one of the brahmanas children and since Sanatan introduced so many rules, He dont like it any more.

To Chaubha Madanmohan said that he is like one of his children. He told him that he had many children and he should give Him to Sanatan. Next morning both devotees wanted to apologize, but at the end Madanmohan went with Sanatan. But not before He promised to Sanatan that He would be satisfied with whatever he will be able to offer. Sanatan, being traveling mendicant could not give much luxury to his Deities.

Sanatana was practicing madhukari (begging from doors to doors) and he could offer to the Deity just dry bread balls.

Madan-Mohan asked him, if he could give Him at least little salt. Sanatana replied he would like to but being dedicated to his bhajan couldnt afford such a «luxury». Shortly afterwards down the Dvadasaditya Hill, the merchants boat went aground in the Yamuna river.

The owner Krisnadas Kapoor was worried about his goods and didnt know what to do. Madan-Mohan took the form of small cowherd boy and led him upwards to Sanatana.

Merchant described what happened, but Sanatan replied he couldnt do anything about it, being just a sannyasi. But he told him to pray to Madan-Mohan Deity he had kept just humbly roofed nearby.

The merchant did what Sanatan advised and few moments later his boat was released by rising of Yamunas waters.

Sailing down to Agra and making big profit, he later under Sanatanas direction began to construct temple for Madan-Mohan which became one of the symbols and dominant features of Vrindavan.

Worshiped along with Madan-Mohan are Radharani and Lalita. They were sent to Vrindavan by Purusottam Sen, a disciple of Maharaja Prapatarudra. The original Madan-Mohan Deity was moved from Vrindavan to Jaipur when the Mughal Emperor Aurangzebs soldiers attacked Vrindavan in 1670. That Deity is now in Karoli, which is southeast of Jaipur in Rajasthan.

Our festival’s are an interesting blend of east and west in order to attract the general mass of people to the deeper message of Krsna consciousness. They are family affairs and we arrange them so that there is something for everyone in the family. Because they are colorful,attractive, fun and deeply devotional people attend each summer, year after year. My godbrother, B.B Govinda Mahārāja once kindly described them as, «The Greatest Show On Earth.»

Родители Вэнья развелись, когда ей было два года, и с тех пор она жила с отцом и мачехой. Мачеха терпеть ее не могла и постоянно ссорилась с отцом. Выбора у него не было – ему пришлось отправить Вэнья к матери, но ее мать была полностью сосредоточена на своем бизнесе, и у нее не было времени заботиться о Вэнья, поэтому она часто отвозила ее к своим друзьям и родственникам, чтобы те присматривали за ней. После стольких лет жизни в чужих семьях маленькая Вэнья испытывала чувство одиночества и беспомощности и тосковала по домашнему теплу. Лишь после развода отца с мачехой она смогла вернуться к отцу, и с тех пор у нее так или иначе был свой дом.

Став старше, Вэнья проявляла благоразумие и послушание и прилежно училась. Отчим бросил ее мать и, более того, завладел всем ее имуществом, а чуть позже отца Вэнья госпитализировали с раком печени… Тяжелое бремя домашних забот было не по плечу Вэнья, так что ей ничего не оставалось, как умолять родственников и друзей о помощи, но все от нее отвернулись…
Именно в тот момент, когда Вэнья страдала и ей не к кому было обратиться, к ней, ее матери и сестре пришли две сестры из Церкви Всемогущего Бога, чтобы свидетельствовать им о работе Всемогущего Бога в последние дни. Из слов Всемогущего Бога Вэнья, ее мать и сестра пришли к пониманию ключевой причины того, почему люди испытывают в жизни боль, и поняли, что только приходя к Богу, люди обретают Божью защиту и живут в радости. Только через утешение Божьих слов мать с дочерями смогли выйти из состояния боли и беспомощности. Вэнья на своем опыте пережила любовь и милость Бога; она наконец почувствовала домашнее тепло и вошла в истинный дом…
